When CDC Pharmaceuticals were looking for an ERP application, they needed a solution that was complex enough to support the processes and volumes that make CDC unique and ultimately successful. As a nationwide wholesaler of pharmaceutical and over-the-counter products to over 300 Pharmacy and Hospital customers from 6 warehouses, they deliver over 2,000 orders per day, averaging 45 different items per order. That’s a staggering 90,000 items to receive, pick and deliver every day.
CDC has enjoyed a long partnership with Endeavour, and in consultation with us they decided to implement Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, a proven ERP application for enterprise level businesses, particularly around wholesale trade and logistics.
From implementation to go-live, the process has been documented in a new case study. It outlines the challenges faced by CDC and Endeavour when it came to replacing a legacy ERP, as well as making sure their replacement choice could support their needs now and into the future as the co-operative continues to grow in transaction volume.
Because of the nature of CDC’s business and the orders they needed to complete on a daily basis, downtime was simply not possible. Usually when an ERP is installed, a business faces a certain amount of downtime while the migration is completed. That CDC could not afford to do this meant the migration was extra challenging, requiring patience from all involved.
However it’s been worth it. The case study outlines where CDC is at 18 months after go-live, with a platform that is stable, tailored to the unique needs of the business and capable of supporting future growth.
Since go live CDC have deployed Microsoft Power BI to deliver insights to key staff around activities at a customer and product level. This new capability is providing great value for CDC, allowing the team to focus on the right business drivers.
Not only that, but CDC also implemented an Accounts Payable (AP) Automation tool that Endeavour created specifically for Microsoft Dynamics ERP, providing provide significant time savings every month for CDC’s AP team and improve the quality of work.
“Our partnership with Endeavour provides stability, reliability and we see this growing as well as we implement new features of Microsoft Dynamics to improve more parts of our operation,’’ says Chief Executive Mike Rhodes.
