Posted

Training employees is an essential activity for all organisations.  Training provides knowledge and skills they need to get their jobs done effectively.

Benefits of training

  • Business is continuously changing, training helps an organisation work more effectively and stay ahead of the competition.
  • Training keeps people motivated, employees feel valuable when an organisation invests in developing them.
  • Training can be used to create positive attitudes to work.
  • It’s often cheaper to get training than the time it can take someone to learn on their own or fix mistakes.

Greentree Game On – Congratulations to our deserving winners

Posted

“I just want to scream and yell – I can’t believe our good fortune!” said Annabel Smail, Director and Marketing Manager of Smail & Co, when we told her they’d won Greentree GAME ON.

Game On smail-logo Smail & Co both make and import bathroom furniture, and is facing a huge challenge: helping to rebuild homes and offices wrecked by  Christchurch’s earthquakes. With their old system (archaic accounting, spreadsheets, and an erratic paper trail of orders) they’d have been hard  pressed to cope with the expected flurry of work. But with Greentree handling their accounts, job costing, production planning and manufacturing, Annabel says, “I don’t think we’ll recognise ourselves!”

Greentree Upgrades – Process Improvement

Posted

We are excited to announce that Greentree International have introduced a new option for upgrading your Greentree system.  There are 2 main ideas behind this improvement;

1. Greentree sites, especially those with payroll, will be able to apply fixes for introduced bugs to their system, rather than having to wait for the release of a Major Certified pack.

2. It’s now possible to apply a patch to your system which reduces the risk of introducing any new issues.  A patch includes just fixes to issues rather than fixes and Greentree enhancements.

The way the upgrade process works is now in line with Endeavour’s best practice.  Here’s how it works, a Major certified pack is  released about 4 times a year.  Between each Major pack there are minor packs released, these minor packs include enhancements and fixes and are released frequently.  Historically, some customers could not use minor packages as they were not Payroll certified or the pack had features requiring testing that was time consuming and expensive.

Now the minor packages will still be released as before however there is also the new option of applying a patch.  The patch will only contain fixes rather than enhancements, it will be certified against Payroll and won’t contain any database changes.  Greentree will evaluate the fix to ensure it is low risk for retro-fitting to the last Major package released. Our intention is to generally use the Major packages and only use the minor packages & patches when absolutely necessary.

Key Benefits:

  • Increases stability of certified packages.
  • Lowers the risk for customers upgrading to a certified packages.
  • Certified Major packages are released four times per year allowing customers to better plan their upgrade schedules.

If an introduced issue is detected following the release of a Major certified package, it will almost always be resolved by the release of a patch, there may be some rare circumstances where this is not possible due to database changes or other structural limitations.

We are very excited to be able to deliver this improved process and believe it will work very well with our upgrade methodology. We all share the risk of issues going unnoticed during testing of the upgrades and now we can get fixes applied without the need to go through system full testing again. There will always be exceptions to the rule but we believe this new process will improve the upgrade process even further. We will adopt these new methods without you needing to take any action.

If you have any questions please contact your Account Manager.

Fight for Christchurch – All Done!

Posted

Hi All

On Friday the 25th of November, Chris Miller, Peter Hooker and the Christchurch Endeavour team went to watch Tim in the boxing ring, for the ‘Fight for Christchurch’, a local event that attracts a very large audience. Tim Ryley, a Director of Endeavour Solutions, was one of 16 amateur boxers who fought to raise funds for local charities. Through sponsorship they collectively raised more than $83,000. Tim’s personal charity choice, Koru Care, received nearly $4,000.

Tim fought well, entering the ring to Australian Crawl’s ‘The Boys Light Up’ and barely having time to put in his mouth guard “it was all on”. However, it wasn’t to be Tim’s night,  Tim’s opponent (take a look at the picture below), was 7 years younger, taller and had a longer reach. After taking a few knocks, Tim was just starting to “REVV UP” in the second round and got in a few good punches, when he copped a fierce right to the head, and was defeated by TKO.  Alot of people were in awe of those few who had never had a boxing match before, giving it a go and stepping into the ring (the reality being that most of us haven’t any real idea of what you will come up against coupled with the anxiety this a public boxing match creates, tends to be enough to put most people off).

Tim had undergone a very rigorous training regime for many months, There was also many beatings / bruisings in the sparring sessions, following on a challenging training schedule, working on a strict diet (including no beer), while also carrying on with the rest of life as usual. While this was a huge undertaking, Tim says ‘he has no regrets’. “I went in for a challenge and to raise money for a good cause,” he says. “It’s been an experience, I’ve learned a lot and I’m pleased I took part in it.”

Tim, you made us at Endeavour Solutions and Koru Care proud!
